LIP BLUSH

Lip blush is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique that enhances the natural colour and shape of the lips. By delicately implanting pigment into the lips, we create a soft and subtle tint that mimics the look of a tinted lip balm, giving your lips a beautiful toned up look. If you have asymmetrical, pale or dark lips, this service will be perfect for you! The result is a natural-looking tint that can last for about 2 years.

PROCEDURE

The lip blush procedure involves careful artistry and precision to achieve your desired lip colour and shape.

  • Consultation and Design: A thorough consultation to assess your lip features, discuss your preferences, and meticulously map out your ideal lip shape and colour.
  • Numbing: A topical numbing cream will be applied to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure.
  • Pigment Application: Using a cosmetic tattooing device with fine needles, pigment is gently deposited into the lips, creating a soft and natural-looking tint.
  • Colour Layering: Multiple layers of pigment may be applied in each session to achieve the desired colour intensity and create a subtle gradient effect.

Each session typically takes around 1 to 2 hours, depending on the artist. Results can last for about 2 years with proper care and touch-up sessions. There is minimal downtime, with slight swelling and tenderness subsiding within a few days, and aftercare involves keeping the lips moisturised and protected with the provided aftercare balm.

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO NEUTRALISE DARK LIPS?

Neutralising dark lips is an essential step in achieving optimal results with a lip blush tattoo service. While some traditional lip embroidery techniques may have overlooked this step, at Monostudio, we prioritise creating a balanced canvas for the lip blush colour to ensure a natural and harmonious outcome.

Previously, it was common for lip embroidery services to apply colour directly to dark lips to “conceal” the darkness and increase the vibrancy. However, without neutralisation, the final result can look extremely unnatural due to the difference in tonality. The colour where the darkness was “concealed” will look stronger and darker, creating an uneven and less desirable outcome.

Lip embroidery is a traditional cosmetic lip tattoo service that uses an invasive technique, while lip blush is a gentler approach. Lip blush creates a more natural, subtle look compared to the often harsher and more dramatic results of traditional lip embroidery.

Pain tolerance varies from person to person. However, at Monostudio, we apply a topical numbing cream before the lip blush procedure to help minimise discomfort. If you are particularly sensitive or have concerns about pain, please let us know, and we can adjust the numbing time accordingly.

The longevity of a semi-permanent lip blush service can vary from person to person. However, with proper care, your lip blush can naturally last for approximately 2 years after your complimentary touch-up session.

Healing typically takes 5-7 days, with any swelling usually subsiding within the first 24 hours. Our artists at Monostudio will also provide you with aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing.

The number of sessions needed to achieve your desired lip blush results can vary depending on the level of darkness in your natural lip colour. Mildly dark lips may only require 1-2 sessions, while darker lips could take 5-6 sessions for optimal results. Our lip blush artists can provide a proper assessment during your consultation.

After your lip tattoo, avoid hot and spicy food, excessive sweating, prolonged sun exposure, and consuming alcohol for 2-3 days. Refrain from swimming and saunas for 5-7 days.

Yes, touch-up sessions are recommended to maintain the vibrancy and longevity of your lip blush. Think of it as a way to ensure your lips always have that perfect “makeup look” without the daily effort, especially if you’ve had lip embroidery services in the past.

To ensure the best results, arrive with well-moisturised lips, free of any chapping, cold sores, or open wounds. If you have a history of cold sores, it’s advisable to take antiviral medication a few days before your appointment.
