WHAT IS SCALP MICROPIGMENTATION?
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic procedure offering a non-surgical solution for hair loss. This technique involves tattooing the scalp with tiny dots to mimic the appearance of hair follicles for a fuller hairline. SMP can also work on any area on your scalp, including side hairlines, crown or mid hairline.
At Monostudio, we understand that hair loss can be a sensitive issue. That’s why we take a personalised approach to SMP, carefully customising the procedure to each individual’s needs and hair loss patterns. Whether you’re experiencing a receding hairline, thinning hair, pattern baldness, or alopecia, SMP can effectively create the appearance of a fuller head of hair. This treatment is also highly effective in camouflaging scars or birthmarks on the scalp, restoring confidence and enhancing your overall appearance.
We welcome clients of all ages seeking to revitalise their hairlines and achieve a more youthful look. However, do note that clients under the age of 18 would need parental consent.
Benefits of SMP
- Instantly create the illusion of fuller hair volume
- Camouflage scars and imperfections
- Suitable to cover various types of hair loss (medical related or non-related)
- Offers a natural-looking solution
- Boosts confidence
- Requires minimal maintenance
- Provides long-lasting results
SMP is performed over a series of sessions, typically three, and the cost is based on the treatment area and desired density, not per session. For a personalised quotation, please send pictures of your scalp or areas of concern to us.

PROCEDURE
The scalp micropigmentation procedure at Monostudio involves a series of carefully executed steps to achieve natural-looking results.

Consultation and Hairline Design
We begin with a thorough consultation to understand your hair loss concerns, discuss your expectations, and analyse your facial features. Our SMP artist will then design a personalised hairline that complements your unique facial structure and hair growth patterns.

Application
Using a micropigmentation device with fine needles, the pigment is delicately applied to the scalp, creating tiny dots that replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles.

Aftercare
Detailed aftercare instructions are provided to ensure proper healing and longevity of the results. This may include guidelines on cleansing, moisturising, and protecting the treated area.

Pigment Matching
The pigment colour is carefully selected to match your natural hair colour and skin tone, ensuring a seamless blend with your existing hair.

Density Building
Multiple layers of pigment may be applied to build density and create a natural-looking gradient, mimicking the appearance of real hair growth.
The entire SMP procedure typically takes around 1 hour, depending on the treatment area and complexity. While there might be a slight sensation of vibration and minimal discomfort, most clients find the procedure tolerable. There is no downtime required, and you can resume your daily activities after the treatment. And depending on your skin’s healing process and individual needs, touch-up sessions may be recommended to maintain the results over time.
